Advisor: Helen Nakamoto, Japanese Class professor
Practices: Thursdays from 7-9PM, Multipurpose Room 4 upstairs at the UH Rec Center, off campus at Houston Kenshikan

Dues: $60/semester for new members (first semester comes with a Shinai, second semester comes with a Bokuto), $30/semester for returning members.

Affiliated with: All US Kendo Federation, SUSKIF, The Houston Kenshikan, Magnolia, River City Iaido and Kendo Kyokai

Instructors

Mark A. Kerstein, Head Instructor. Mark is a Rokudan (sixth degree black belt) in Kendo and has been practicing kendo for over 30 years. Currently, he is president of the Southern United States Kendo and Iaido Federation. Sensei has a JD ('98) from the University of Houston Law Center and his own law firm, The Law Office of Mark A. Kerstein. The club is immensely lucky and proud to have him as their Sensei.

Shamina Chang. Shamina is the founder and first president of Cougar Kendo. She is currently a Yondan (4th degree black belt), is the secretary of the Southern United States Kendo and Iaido Federation, and has competed locally as well as nationally in Kendo. In Spring 2010, Shamina graduated summa cum laude with a double major in philosophy and psychology. She graduated from the South Texas College of Law in May 2013.

President: Ines Veselinovic
Ines "Cheese-Dan" is a junior Biology major. She started Kendo as a freshman and is the first and only person in Cougar Kendo to achieve the rank of Shodan (first degree black belt) in 1.5 years. Ines is also known as the Vice President of ALL the Kendo.

Vice President: Rusty Cruz
Rusty is a Junior Education major and Kendo 2 Kyu. He is an avid carb eating comedian. His advice is, "More than one waifu will ruin your laifu."

Secretary: Hannah Wheeler
Hannah is a senior Psychology major and owner of club mascot, Fizz, the service doggo. She is a Kendo 3 Kyu and her hastag is #fightingblind.
